What is Ultimate TV?

Ultimate TV is a service package offered by Microsoft that when combined with DIRECTV
allows you to surf the Internet while watching Direct TV satellite tv.
Ultimate TV's Cool Features:
- Live TV Controls (pause live tv, instant replay or skip ahead).
- Digital Video Recording - record up to 35 hours in full digital
quality - you don't need video tapes - simply record right to the system's hard drive;
watch one show while recording another; watch 2 shows at once with Picture
in Picture.
- Interactive Television - access sports stats with your remote
control; play along with game shows.
- Internet Access - including email - access the Internet through
your television (no computer necessary), with PIP you can watch TV while
surfing the Internet - connects thru standard phone lines.
Ultimate TV enabled Directv receivers are manufactured by both RCA
and Sony.
What Do You Need to Get Ultimate TV?
A DirecTV receiver that will work with Ultimate TV service. Next you'll need a monthly
subscription to both Direct TV and Microsoft's UltimateTV service.

What happened to Ultimate TV?
Unfortunately UltimateTV receivers are no longer available for sale by Microsoft. Instead
of Ultimate TV, I now recommend Tivo. With Tivo you can control the action with the
ability to pause, rewind, slow-motion, and instant replay live TV. You can also digitally
record up to 80 hours of your favorite shows automatically. Having owned both Ultimate TV
and Tivo, I now whole-heartedly recommend Tivo!
